Scheduling Your Massage
A morning or mid-day massage can help to give your body a stimulating warm up for the physically active and mentally challenging day. An evening or after-dinner massage will prepare you for an easy evening of restful, relaxed sleep.
Shower/Bathe
Take a shower or bath before your massage to enhance your relaxation as well as cleanse the epidermis (skin) preparing it for the absorption of our essential creams & aroma-therapeutic lotions and oils.
Consulting with your Massage Therapist
Before you begin your massage session, inform your massage therapist which areas you would like him or her to focus on, as well as any areas to avoid due to injury or discomfort. If you experience pain or discomfort at any time during the session, inform your massage therapist.
What to wear
For most massages, undress completely and lie face down on the therapy table and cover with the sheets provided for you.
Your therapist keeps your body draped (covered) throughout the massage session, except the areas being worked.
Technique & Pressure
If you feel the pressure of your massage is beyond your tolerance level of 7 or 8 on a pain scale of 1 to 10, you need to inform your massage therapist right away. Deeper is not always better.
Lie Back & Relax
Breathe deeply and relax as much as possible. Let your tensions and worries fade with each breath. Allow your body and mind to be quiet. Let the therapist move limbs as they work... you need only relax and let go.
NOTE:
If you suffer from GERD (Gasro Esophogeal Reflux Disease), Acid Reflux, or Heartburn, it may be advisable to bring an antacid with you in case you experience discomfort while lying flat. We do not recommend replacing medications prescribed for GERD with an over-the-counter antacid. We simply suggest bringing an antacid with you, should the prescribed medicaiton not work in a timely manner for the your comfort during the massage session.
Please consult your physician before taking any over-the-counter medications in conjunction with prescribed medicaitons.
Remember, you will be massaged on the therapy table anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. It is advisable to visit the restroom prior to your service to avoid any discomfort later in the session.
To enhance your circulatory system and help to hydrate your body, it is advisable to drink a generous amount of water immediately follwoing your massage session.
